Cappadocia is a charming land of beauty, considered to be one of the natural wonders of the world with its surrealistic geological creation, being formed as a result of two opposing forces in nature: volcanic activity and erosion. We call these peculiar geological formations as "Fairy Chimneys". This supernatural landscape, framed by nature and embellished by man is unlik anything else in the world.
The volcanic tissue was carved by Early Christians and underground cities, monasteries and churches were constructed. In Seljuks' period, art, science and architecture developed in this region.
The organiser of the art camp is Karlıkevi in Uçhisar. The town was founded in the caves of the rocks, but then got down to the foot because of the erosion. It is surrounded by vineyards and apricot gardens. Since you can look the Cappadocia Valley there on the top, and especially that you can watch the wonderful sunrise and magnificent scenes that sunset forms on the fairy chimneys by light and shadows we assure you a new kind of inspiration here.
The Main-sponsor of the art camp is Karlik Evi, where we will stay during the art camp. (http://www.karlikevi.com) According to the owners it is not a hotel it is a Guest House. Karlik Evi is the most beautiful facility in Uchisar, where you can enjoy the Anatolian hospitality and feel like at home in between artist friends from many countries all over the world.
The 5 nd International Art Camp in Cappadocia will take place between 02- 10 June 2008.
Technique, theme and dimensions of the art works will be free.
We provide for the invited guest beds and meal in other words, full board
(FB) is free of charge for 8 days. Also the basic materials for painting and graphics, canvas and paper will be provided by ourselves. (The individual materials and instruments, participants have to bring for themselves.)
Since the camp will take place during the high season of this touristic region, for the participants, who will arrive earlier or depart later than the above mentioned days, Karlik Evi will charge 40 Euro per person/ for a night.
Participants have to arrange the travelling from their countries to Ankara or Kayseri on their own. Cappadocia is located about 4 hours from Ankara and about 1 hour from Kayseri. As capital of Turkey, you can most likely find direct flights to Ankara, rather than to Kayseri from your departure country. But there are also possibilities of inter-city flights between Ankara - Kayseri or Istanbul - Kayseri, provided by turkish companies of flight. In any case, participant has to inform us about his/her arrival time in Ankara/Kayseri, so that we can ensure his/her transfer to Cappadocia. At the end of the art camp every artist has to give three works of art to the organisers/sponsors (for sculptures only one art work), which we will choose at our discretion. The opening ceremony of the exhibition will be held on 09 th June 2008. According to the formation of the collection with given works, further exhibitions will be held in Istanbul, Ankara and other big cities.
During the period of art camp excursions will be organized in the mysterious neighbourhood, by which we hope you may spend some pleasant time and find inspiration also for your further artistic work.
We hope you can take part in the 5nd International Art Camp in Cappadocia and we are looking forward to get your response with the enrolment form until 15 April 2008. For the applications received after this date, we can not ensure the participation.
